Original Outdoor Drink Blatz Beer Neon Porcelain Sign

Original Outdoor Drink Blatz Beer Neon Porcelain Sign

1950's large artkraft (milwaukee) outdoor double-sided drink blatz beer neon & porcelain lighted signon the cool scale, this has to be near the top! Think back to the 1950's or 60's when you would see this large double-sided sign hanging in front of a local tavern or establishment draiwng attention not only to itself, but also to the establishment displaying it. Although i don't know the exact age of this sign, nor its history, i would guess that it is from the 1950's or 60's. In its glory, it had neon tubing to form the letters of drink blatz beer on each side! This sign si a true survivor!

Advertising milwaukee's finest/favorite beer, blatz, this sign is sure to take you back to a simpler time! They certainly don't make signs like this anymore, and that is a real shame! That's why it is important that as many of these be saved as can be to maintain memories of days-gone-by. This is a real piece of 1950's-1960's americana! This sign was originally made by artkraft frmo milwaukee, as indicated on the lower portion of the porcelain sides.

The porcelain panels on each side of the sign are actually in pretty nice shape, but they certainly aren't perfect. There are some chips and minor indents and bends in the surface (mainly along the edges) but nothing that is too horrible.

There are also a few discoloration streaks from some rusting that has occurred at the chips as well as at a few fo the neon support fasteners. The blue and white colors on both sides of the sign are in very nice shape and bright. The erd color on one side is in great shape with only minimal fading, the red on the other side does show some fading, so i'm guessing that one side of the sign was directed towards sunlight during its life, with the other side away from sunlight.
Even the side that is faded doesn't loko super-bad, but you can see the imperfections in the coloring. Each of the two porcelain panels appears to be a single picee with no seams. Since the time of the sign's removal, the original neon tubing has broken away on boht sides, but will easily allow itself to be reconstructed.
Many of the insulators and support rods are still in place on hte sign, moreso on one side as compared to the other. I can't see inside the sign to verify whether or not the neon transformer is still in place, but i do see electrical wires that extend out from one end of the lower rectangular can, so please make your own determination. I would assume that to bring this sign back to life you will need to install a new transformer anyway, but you make the call. The metal can poriton of the sign between the two porcelain panels is in fairly nice shape. The steel framing within the cans is also still in place as are all of the chains attached to one end that would support the sign when installed on the side of a building. The lower steel l channel is still attached to the can, but there has been some rusting of the can in this location so this one channel is not sturdy at this point since it is pulling aawy from the can (see photo. ) the upper channel is solid and secure. The can itself shows some surface rust throughout, but other than the one rusted portion that i mention, appears to eb stable, structurally. The overall size of the sign is 6' wide, 3'-5 tall, and 7.5 deep (not including the depth of the double-sided neon tubing that was originally in place. ) the sign panels themselves are 6' wide and 2'-6 tall.

Being from the 50's, this sign is made from real heavy gauge steel! Although i have no way to actually weigh the sign, it really isn't too heavy, though. Tow people can easily lift and carry it, so maybe it is about 100-150 pounds. Payment for the sign is to be received within seven days of the end of the auction. Credit cards are accepted through paypal.

I can hold the sign for as long as you need, provided it is paid for in full at the end of the auction, or you can make arrangements to pick it up. If picked up, only cash will be accepted, or a paypal payment must be made prior to pickup. Whatever pickup/shipping method works best for you, i'll try to accommodate oyur needs, but payment is still to be received within seven days of the end of the auction. If you don't intend to follow-through with your purchase, please don't bid! Negative feedback will be left for those who don't hold up their end of the deal! fI you need shipping within the usa (and they may even be able to get it to you in canada, ) i would recommend north american van lines who are door to door and handle all of the loading, unloading, blanket-wrapping, shrink-wrapping, etc. You can receive a quote by ocntacting michelle bianchi, michelle. Bianchi@beltmann. Com, 800-959-8880, x9465. When shipping multiple pieces, the per piece cost is significantly reduced, so make sure you look at my other auctions and/or ask me what other pinball and arcade machines i have available right now! I have also worked with a few other shipping companies and can help steer oyu in the right direction. My preference is to work with a company that provides door to door service which includes all loading, unloading, shrink-wrapping, blanket-wrapping, etc. In rough numbers, it generally costs about $350-375 in total to ship a single piece to the east coast from here and about $400-425 to the west coast. Although i am not able to crate or palletize this myself, i can help to arrange for outside crating and international shipping, with you paying all of the associated costs. Whether you want to fully restore this sign to its original glory, partially restore it in order to have it working, or just enjoy and look at it the way it is, this definitely screams americana! The peroid graphics on these signs are unmatched. With neon lettering and porcelain side panels, it really has an excellent look to it!

You will most likely be the only one on your block with a sign like this! Mount it on a post in your back yard and you will be the envy of yoru neighbors! Especially if oyu replace the neon lighting. Wow, will that look cool! I laways had that goal in mind, but reality is starting to set in that i will probably not be able to accomplish that, so it may be time for this sign to move onto someone else who can take it to the next step.

You won't be disappointed in the outcome! Great opportunity to buy a fantastic and unique neon and porcelain sign from the 50's. Don't miss out!
